As a webmaster of a Filipina online dating site, I often get emails asking me how to identify Filipina scammers. Well, it is not very straightforward to tell from a profile of Filipina girl in any online dating site to know whether she is a scammer or not. When a scammer joins a dating site, she would not put in her profile, “hi, I’m joining this site so I can scam you for money”. Only after such girls try to scam other members who report to us that they were scammed, we would know their true motives.
To begin with, when you sign up for any Filipina dating site with the intention to meet Filipina girls, there is always a risk associated that the profile may not be genuine and you could be scammed. There are some people who put a profile with attractive picture of girls, but they are actually scammers who will can do every possible thing to extract money from you. You must have listened to stories about foreigners, either boyfriends or fiances being cheated by Filipina girls for money.

Tips for spotting Filipina Scammers
You can avoid falling into this trap by taking few precautions. Here are some tips which I would like to share with you. These tips will help you identify Filipina dating scams. I don’t give you any guarantee; you have to use your own judgment in spotting the Filipina scammers.
1. Avoid Money Talks : Money is the key thing involved in a scam. As you become friendly with a girl, if she sends direct or indirect messages about how hard her life is, or she has stopped education because of financial problems, or her mother needs hospitalization or that she does not have money to pay for renting the Internet cafe– the chances are high that the girl is looking for money from you. Remember – never send money to any girl you are getting to know. Money should not be a topic of discussion during the getting to know each other stage. You should reserve major financial decisions only when the relationship is beyond the initial stages and is heading towards marriage.
Once you start the process of sending her money, you would be surprised to see how quickly her monetary needs increase. You would soon land up paying for her examination fees, medicine for her father, tuition fees , medical check up of mother, repairs on their house, house rent, money for her sister’s marriage, or for buying the hottest model of laptop or mobile phone in a way to communicate with you at all times.
2. Never Hurry in Relationship : Time is your companion in judging scammers. Most scammers have their main goal to get money and so don’t like spending much time in exchanging a lot of emails. They want to extract as much money as possible in the short span of time . So they would never go for long courtships, or discuss in details about their likes, dislikes, personality, aspirations etc. So, if a Filipino girl says that she is in love with you just after the exchange of few emails, and also writes about her genuine love for you and how desperate she is to meet you then, you should be watchful. She may start calling you honey, sweetheart, lover, etc, within a few emails without even taking any efforts to know you. She will also mention about immigration, passports, visa and the expenses involved in this process, be careful in dealing with her.
3. Use Webcam chat : Some times the girls with attractive pictures are in reality guys, gays, lady-boys, old women, or ex-prostitutes who are in need of money. So if a girl says, she does not have a phone or do not want you to call her or does not want to show her face on webcam or tries to hide from you in some other way, chances are very high that she is a scammer. During chat sessions, usage of webcam is a good way see girl and know her genuineness. You should watch her facial expression and body language while she chats with you. You can also confirm that the person chatting with you is the same person in the photo of her profile.
4: Copy/Paste letters : Standard template letters or emails are usually another sign to identify scammers. If an email seems like it could have been copied and pasted to send to anyone, and it is not relevant to your reply, you should get that as a warning. If they are not addressing you by your name, or write irrelevant information when replying to your email, you should be careful.
The above mentioned facts are not all but just the part of scamming technique which may be a helping hand to all those who need some genuine guidance. Having said that I would also like to mention here one more fact which is, there are no perfect rules when it comes to courtship or love. Ultimately, common sense comes handy and you should decide – yourself what is right and what is wrong for you. Fast food mentality should not be applied for finding true love. It took almost a year for me and my wife to understand our relationship status.
The only relief is that compared to genuine Filipina girls the percentage of scammers is less. There are many Filipina girls who sign up Filipina dating sites to actually find their future partner. The thumb rule is to follow your instincts. If something appears to be fishy then avoid getting in to that relationship. At the same time, don’t allow few rotten apples to stop you from finding your happiness online. Use your common sense and be alert while dealing with any online relationship to avoid unpleasant surprises.
